DiMillo’s co-owner to receive lifetime achievement award

Steve DiMillo, co-owner of DiMillo’s on the Water in Portland, has been named this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner by HospitalityMaine.
The trade group, which represents the state’s lodging, restaurant and hospitality industry, recently announced the award. DiMillo and others will be honored at HospitalityMaine’s annual awards dinner on Nov. 16.

The DiMillo family opened DiMillo’s on the Water, a floating restaurant and Portland landmark, in 1982. The family’s restaurant roots in Portland stretch back to 1954, when Tony DiMillo opened Anthony’s on Fore Street.
“Steve is a kind and generous man and tireless supporter of Portland’s restaurant and hospitality community and businesses throughout Maine,” said Becky Jacobson, retired executive director of HospitalityMaine.
The group has also named Paige Gould, co-owner of Portland’s Central Provisions and Tipo, as well as Finestkind in Saco, as Restaurateur of the Year. Chef Jose Ochoa of Natalie’s at Camden Harbour Inn won the Chef of the Year award.
The awards ceremony is part of the annual HospitalityMaine Summit, slated for Nov. 16-17 at the Portland Sheraton at Sable Oaks. Tickets for the awards reception and dinner are $110; register for the event online at HospitalityMaine.com.
