Christian singer Natalie Grant urges fans not to 'ignore your body' after fall led to emergency surgery

Christian Singer Natalie Grant Recovers from Serious Internal Bleeding After Fall
Nashville, Tenn. — Christian pop star Natalie Grant is out of the hospital and fully healed after a frightening fall that left her with internal bleeding and a broken rib. The 54‑year‑old singer, who recently honored Dolly Parton at the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards, spoke to Fox News Digital about the incident and the lessons she’s taken from the experience.
A Fall on the Way to a Dinner
Grant was heading to dinner with her husband and their daughter when the accident happened. “My foot caught a brick on the ground and I belly‑flopped,” she recounted. “At first I thought maybe I’d broken a rib or gotten a bruise. I was sore, but I kept walking.”
She said the pain quickly worsened as she realized she was bleeding inside. “I couldn’t pass urine and it felt like my bladder could rupture,” she said. “I knew I had to get to the emergency room.”
Hospital Treatment
When she arrived at the emergency department, doctors were initially unsure of what was wrong. “They were kind of confused about what was going on,” Grant explained. She was admitted to the intensive care unit, where a catheter was inserted and it became clear that internal bleeding was ongoing.
“We kept seeing blood fill up and it didn’t stop,” she said. “We all had to figure out what to do next.” Doctors eventually advised surgery, but Grant said her rapid response saved her life. “If I hadn’t come in fast, the bladder might have ruptured,” she recalled. “They told me I was smart to come right away.”
Grant’s daughter, who lives with her in the family’s dorm at a college, was also in the hospital during the incident. She “faints at the sight of blood,” Grant added, and she worried about how to explain the situation to her other two daughters back in Nashville.
Recovery and Reflection
After months of treatment and surgery, Grant told Fox News Digital she is fully healed. “I had my final cystoscopy last week,” she said. “Everything looks fantastic. The kidney and bladder are fine, and I’m 100 percent healed.” She noted that the broken rib is still painful, but it is no longer a danger to her health.
Grant used the ordeal to urge her fans not to ignore warning signs from their bodies. “God created our body in such a way that it gives us signs,” she said. “Too often, we ignore those signals until it’s too late.”
She also spoke about the emotional weight of the incident. “I was in pain but I didn’t want to miss the moment,” she said. “We were celebrating my daughter’s college graduation and wanted to make that memory.” The singer described the experience as a reminder of the responsibilities she feels as a mother, even while in pain.
Dolly Parton Tribute at the Dove Awards
Earlier this month, Grant performed a tribute to Dolly Parton at the 57th Annual GMA Dove Awards, held on Oct. 6, 2026, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and hosted by Tauren Wells. She said the most emotional part of the preparation was learning about Parton’s faith.
“Looking into the story of Dolly’s faith helped me decide how to honor her,” Grant said. “I wasn’t going to sing her greatest hits; I wanted to tell a part of her story that mattered to her. I found a video of her singing ‘How Great Thou Art,’ and that was the most emotional moment for me.”
She added that the tribute was a “beautiful way to share the anchor of her faith and the way she loved people.” The performance was part of an event that highlighted the influence of faith in the music industry.
Looking Forward
Grant’s health scare has left her with a renewed sense of appreciation for her body and the medical care she received. “I thank God for the medical care and for the faithfulness that took care of me,” she said. She remains grateful for the support of her family, fans, and the medical team that treated her.
The singer’s story serves as a reminder that even everyday moments can carry unexpected risks, and that paying attention to the body’s signals can be life‑saving. She remains active on social media, encouraging her followers to stay healthy and to cherish the moments that matter most.
