Maine-made ice cream company Stone Fox Creamery has launched a mobile scoop shop for the summer season at 46 Exchange St., which opens onto the four-block Old Port Square.
The Searsport-based company uses local ingredients to produce its premium ice cream, striving for high butterfat content and minimal air incorporation — “less fluff, more stuff,” as the company’s motto states.
“(Stone Fox Creamery’s) commitment to local sourcing and craftsmanship aligns perfectly with our vision for Old Port Square as a place where people can discover some of the most talented makers and entrepreneurs in Maine,” said Jacob Soley, director of development at East Brown Cow, the real estate management firm developing Old Port Square. “We’re excited to have them become part of the neighborhood this summer.”
Stone Fox owner Stephen Simonds said adding the Old Port Square location to its stores in Searsport and Castine lets the brand serve a much bigger audience. “It’s a chance to bring some Midcoast magic to Portland, and for us to really cross-pollinate with the food scene here,” Simonds said.
The mobile scoop shop launched June 1 and will operate through September, open daily from 1-8 p.m.
