In the very last event of the day, the Red Storm made it there. Led by two victories and four top-five finishes from Isabella Harmon, Scarborough totaled 91.33 points to edge Falmouth (87.33) and Hampden Academy (74.5) at the state meet at Cameron Stadium in Bangor on Saturday afternoon, reclaiming the title after Bangor usurped the Red Storm last year. “It was, really, a team effort. It really was. They knew it was going to be tight,” coach Denise Curry said. “The girls were saying, especially Laurel (Driscoll), ‘What place do I have to be in for points?’ … Everybody knew they had to run their best today.” There were no such dramatics in the boys meet. South Portland, led by wins from Devin Berry (110-meter hurdles), Anthony Nielsen (800) and Bossay Ditanduka (long jump), totaled 98 points to earn a third straight title, ahead of Portland (69.75) and Lewiston (60). Related [Orono, Bangor Christian win Class C track and field titles](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/06/orono-bangor-christian-win-class-c-track-and-field-titles/) “It’s just really incredible about how much they improved,” said Red Riots coach Dave Kahill, whose team only returned 15.33 individual points from last year. “They came together to reach their potential. You always want to reach your potential, whether it’s for a championship or not.” The Scarborough girls got a big day from their biggest weapon, as Harmon won the high jump (5-2) and 100 hurdles (15.49) while placing second in the pole vault and fifth in the long jump. Advertisement “There’s a lot of nerves, knowing every point matters,” she said. “I do get very anxious about … knowing I have to score a lot of points, and if I don’t, it’s a big hit. But this is my fourth year, I’m definitely getting used to it.” Harmon was Scarborough’s only winner, but the Red Storm kept picking up points. Driscoll was second in the 800, third in the 1,600 and fourth in the 3,200. Freshman Clara Humble placed second in the high jump, and eight individuals and two relay teams scored. It still nearly wasn’t enough, as Falmouth, led by wins from Georgia Moon (3,200, 10:42.54) and Cassidy Bishop (race walk, 8:42.12) and two relay teams (1,600 and 3,200), held a two-point lead with only the discus left to be scored. Lena Asali’s third-place finish in that event was enough to lift the Red Storm into first place. Harmon was one of three double-winners in the girls meet. Marshwood’s Anna Jennings prevailed in the long jump (18-7) and 400 (58.03), and Hampden Academy’s Addison Elliott won the 800 (2:17.10) and 1,600 (4:54.75). Jennings was the lone athlete to set a meet record, as her winning long jump beat the mark of 18-5 1/2 set by Gorham’s Alyvia Caruso in 2022. She celebrated with teammate Sydney Leveille, who last week set an SMAA record in the same event. “I ran straight to her,” Jennings said. “She’s always the person I’m looking for when anything big happens. I’m so excited she was right there with me.” Advertisement [![](https://www.pressherald.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2026/06/43631172_20260606_09trackandfield_.jpg?w=1024)](https://w2pcms.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2026/06/43631172_20260606_09trackandfield_.jpg) Marshwood long jumper Anna Jennings, right, is embraced by teammate Sydney Leveille after setting the Class A record in the long jump (18-7) on Saturday in Bangor. It’s good. It’s motivating.” The closest finish came in the 300 hurdles. Bangor’s Taylor Scales won at 45.843 seconds — seven-thousandths of a second ahead of Falmouth’s Hadley Perry. “I could hear her coming up on me,” Scales said. “The feeling of seeing my foot cross the finish line before hers, knowing she’s so fast, it’s awesome.” Related [York boys, Yarmouth girls run away with Class B track titles](https://www.pressherald.com/2026/06/06/york-boys-yarmouth-girls-run-away-with-class-b-track-title/) Scales, who’s battling a foot sprain, had to be carried off the track in pain after her preliminary heat in the 100 hurdles but returned for the 300 hurdles. “Just because it hurts doesn’t mean you have to be done,” she said. Advertisement En route to victory in the boys meet, South Portland got runner-up finishes from Ambrosio Mputu (100), Michael Lawlor (800), Ditanduka (200) and the 400 relay team, and third-place results from Christiano Jundo (300 hurdles) and Jared LaRose (high jump). “A lot of people will say ‘Oh, South Portland’s just going to win it,’ but we like to tell ourselves you never know,” said Berry. “We have a lot of depth, and that’s great for us. It gives us a lot of competition in practice, it gives us a teamwork aspect.” The lone boy to win twice was Bonny Eagle’s Drew Gervais, who took the 100 at 11.07 and the 200 at 21.84, beating Ditanduka by two-hundredths of a second. He finished second in both events last year. “I didn’t really like waiting around,” he said. “I convinced myself (in) outdoor season, I’m going to move up. I got my shot and I made big things happen. I’m just blessed to have great competition.” Gervais survived his challenges, but a few top seeds did not. Deering’s Abdulkadir Munye (39.34) bested Hampden’s Noah Madden in the 300 hurdles, Brunswick’s Ethan Patterson (49.43) edged defending champion Ali Carter of Falmouth in the 400, and Lewiston’s Larson Stone jumped 6-4 for the first time all season to top Portland’s Cordell Jones. “My heart rate was, like, 150 beats a minute. It was just a (1-on-1), Cordell Jones and I,” Stone said. “I was thinking about going against him the whole season. (I thought) ‘I’ll try to catch up to him,’ but I didn’t know how possible it was.” Advertisement GIRLS WINNERS Cassidy Bishop, Falmouth: 1,600 race walk (8:42.12) Siena Carbone, Massabesic: javelin (101-3) Addison Elliott, Hampden: 800 (2:17.10), 1,600 (4:54.75) Liz Green, Brunswick: discus (118-3) Alexis Hamel, Hampden: pole vault (11-0) Isabella Harmon, Scarborough: 100 hurdles (15.49), high jump (5-2) Advertisement Annabelle Harris, Windham: shot put (35-10.50) Anna Jennings, Marshwood: 400 (58.03), long jump (18-7, meet record) Sydney Leveille, Marshwood: triple jump (37-4) Georgia Moon, Falmouth: 3,200 (10:42.54) Elliette Musica, Brunswick: 100 (12.79) Taylor Scales, Bangor: 300 hurdles (45.85) Advertisement Macey Weisberg, Cheverus/Waynflete: 200 (26.02) Falmouth relays: 1,600 (Myanna Chute, Hadley Perry, Elle Foley, Georgia Moon), 4:10.36; 3,200 (Madison McGonagle, Sara Tennent, Parker Fox, Elle Foley), 9:54.41 Hampden: 400 relay (Breah Curtis, Kelsey Ball, Erin Curtis, Madi DiCentes), 49.89 BOYS WINNERS Devin Berry, South Portland: 110 hurdles (15.26) Ian Britt, Mt.
