Obituary: Carolyn Diane Pollard

Carolyn Diane Pollard
RAYMOND – Carolyn Diane Pollard, 65, of Raymond, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born on April 22, 1961, in Portland, the daughter of Bill and Anne (Whitney) Cordell. She spent her early years in Ashland, Ohio, before returning to Pownal, where she attended local schools. Her return to Maine reunited her with her large extended family in Gray, where she and her sister grew up surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins. Some of her cousins were so close that she considered them siblings.
Carolyn spent more than 30 years working in the insurance industry, building her career at Unum, where she was employed for over 15 years. She was also actively involved in the Group Underwriters Association of America, serving as a board member and as president in the early 2000s.
In 1997, Carolyn married Jeff Pollard, and together they raised two children, Christina and Jeffrey Jr. A weekend snowmobile ride led Carolyn and Jeff to a property in Roxbury, Maine, that would become known simply as “camp.” Over the years, camp became a special place filled with cherished memories, laughter, and time spent with family and friends.
Above all, Carolyn’s friends and family were her world. Her warm, inviting personality and remarkable ability to remember everyone’s name made her unforgettable to so many. Through her years of travel, she built friendships with people far and wide. No matter how much time had passed, she made a point of staying in touch, picking up right where she left off as though no time had passed at all. As her children grew, Carolyn found great joy in opening her home to them and their friends, hosting sleepovers complete with elaborate spreads and plenty of food. Making others feel welcome and creating lasting memories came naturally to her, and these moments reflected the love and care she so freely gave to those around her.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jeff Pollard of Raymond; her daughter, Christina Pollard of Standish; her son, Jeffrey Pollard Jr. of Raymond; her sister, Cheryl Croxford, and her husband, Curt, of Pittston; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, William Cordell and Anne (Whitney) Herrick.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at Spring Meadows on Thursday, October 29, from 3-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in
Carolyn’s memory.
