No script will bring me around to Susan Collins | Letter

A young man stopped by, campaigning for Sen. Collins, New Jersey license plates.
His clipboard of talking points led with “Appropriations Committee.” I interjected, “Bath Iron Works will get their money without Collins.” Undeterred, he continued, point by point. Sensing I wasn’t buying what he was selling, he turned to attacking Troy Jackson.
I told him I read the voting records, in the paper and online. I said I’ve seen her vote more and more for corporations and the wealthy, less and less for women and the environment. I don’t know anyone who is better off today than two years ago.
And, I can never forgive her for increasing funding for a cruel, inhumane and racist ICE, killing with impunity and imprisoning people with no criminal record.
I believe in the promises of the Constitution. I don’t believe Republicans, including Collins, are defending it. Billionaires call the shots.
