Mesa Grande Taqueria announced Monday its plan to close for good this month.
“It is with a heavy heart that we are announcing that our final day of business will be Saturday, November 14th,” a post on the taqueria’s Instagram page reads in part. “We opened in Portland with the primary goal to serve the community, provide good jobs, all within an inclusive space for staff and customers to share in fresh food made from scratch and with love.”
Owner Collin Henderson said the decision to close came down to “insufficient sales as well as rising costs overall. Those two things have made it difficult to sustain. As we make some progress forward, we’re taking another step back with everything.”
The restaurant launched at 140 Fore St. in May of 2024. Henderson said the original Mesa Grande Taqueria location in Auburn, N.Y., will remain open.
