Jack Osbourne says doctors warned Ozzy not to perform final concert just 17 days before his death

Ozzy Osbourne, the legendary “Prince of Darkness,” died at 76 on July 22, 2025, after a farewell tour that had already drawn a stunned crowd and a warning from his doctors.
Jack Osbourne, the rocker’s son, spoke to local media about the last weeks of his father’s life. He recalled a conversation with medical staff that had taken place just days before Ozzy’s final concert in Birmingham, England. Doctors told the frontman that his heart condition and arterial disease made it unsafe for him to perform. “They were basically saying you’ve got so many things going on,” Jack said. “We recommend you don’t do this because the energy expenditure.” When Ozzy replied, “I’m doing it,” the decision was sealed.
Ozzy’s final show—titled Back to the Beginning—went on July 5, 2025. It lasted roughly ten hours and featured a lineup of guest musicians, including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jack Black, and Steven Tyler, under the direction of host Jason Momoa. The set was staged in a dark, throne‑adorned arena; Ozzy performed from a seated position, singing classics such as “Crazy Train” and “Mama I’m Coming Home.” The atmosphere was electric, but behind the lights doctors and family were already uneasy about the rock star’s health.
After the concert, Ozzy’s medical complications worsened. His death certificate cites cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, and Parkinson’s disease. The 76‑year‑old passed away at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and their children.
Jack said he was deeply heartbroken, but not angry, about his father’s choice to perform. “He wanted his journey,” he told reporters. “I can’t be angry. I think everyone wants to at least have some say in how they go.” He added that he understood and respected Ozzy’s desire to finish his career on his own terms.
Sharon Osbourne has also shared her memories of the night of the death. In an emotional interview on “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” the 73‑year‑old described the last conversation with Ozzy: he asked her to wake up, kiss, and hug her tightly before he slipped into a quiet sleep. She recounted hearing a scream inside the house, rushing downstairs to find the paramedics attempting CPR. Despite their efforts, Ozzy’s heart stopped, and he was ultimately declared dead.
The Osbourne family issued a statement after the death, asking for privacy while they grieved. They emphasized that Ozzy had been surrounded by love up to his final moments. The couple’s longtime Los Angeles home, valued at roughly $17 million, was placed on the market after his passing.
In the wake of the tragedy, the music world has taken a collective breath. Ozzy’s final show remains a testament to his enduring legacy—one that continues to resonate with fans and critics alike, even as the family mourns the loss of a legendary figure whose music will echo for generations.
