Hoping for an afternoon at the Oval Office | Letter

Hoping for an afternoon at the Oval Office | Letter
100%

It’s a challenge to step outside our comfort zone.

I‘ve been encouraging Sen. Susan Collins to bring together her Republican colleagues, as Sen. Barry Goldwater did in August 1974. In the Oval Office, backed by Republican leaders, Goldwater let Richard Nixon know he soon would be impeached and convicted.

I haven’t heard if Sen. Collins is going to do this.

Still, “A Change Is Gonna Come.” We’ll see Cruz, Johnson and Schmidt, Hawley and Britt, easing on down the road to have a word with the guy who does the bad things. Maybe.

OK, we can’t wait for this. So I volunteered to accompany Susan. I also volunteered to do the talking, if she wishes. It’s time for the people to challenge Trump on his high crimes and misdemeanors.

Once Sen. Susan Collins has arranged the meeting, the two of us, at least, can make a start.
