A win would send the Wildcats to the state championship game for a fourth consecutive season. With that goal in mind, York led from start to finish, earning a 10-6 victory. York’s seniors were freshman when the Wildcats won the 2023 state championship over Messalonskee. The Wildcats suffered overtime losses to Yarmouth in 2024 and 2025. “We came off that bus, we were firing. We were screaming, chest bumps, high fives all around,” said senior Josh Neal, one of the team’s captains. “The love for each other and the love for the game really pulled through today.” York (11-5), the No. 3 seed, will face No. 4 Marshwood (14-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Deering High’s Memorial Field in Portland. It starts with hustle to ground balls and the guys being on the same page, communicating and doing all the little stuff,” York coach Bill McNamara said. “That’s what we’ve been working on all season long, and it’s good to see them start to do it.” York jumped out to an early lead, scoring four goals in the first quarter. Parker Humphrey’s goal on a feed from Cooper Dodge with 5.4 seconds left in the first made it 4-0. York wins a lot of faceoffs and got to a lot of ground balls, noted Kennebunk coach Luke Myers, and that made it tough for his team to generate momentum. “We were able to clear the ball and we got a couple transition goals. They just make it tough to do that for 48 minutes,” Myers said. Tyler Moores finished with three goals for York, while Noah Stone added a pair. York goalie Brendan Dowling made five saves. Aiden Ouelette had 10 stops for the Rams.
