Yarmouth Elections Bring New Leadership to Town Council and School Board

In a recent municipal election, Yarmouth residents voted to reshape the composition of its governing bodies. Two open seats on the town council were filled by Mike Ting and Jennifer Monti, who succeeded Karin Orenstein and Michelle Cromarty. The new councilors will serve three-year terms, bringing fresh perspectives to the town's administrative leadership.

The Yarmouth School Committee also saw significant changes. Meghan Casey was reelected to her position on the committee, receiving 2,066 votes in the primary. The same election cycle added two new members to the board: Chelsea DeLorme and Christina Patrick. Both candidates ran uncontested and will also serve three-year terms, expanding the committee's representation.

Simultaneously, the Yarmouth Water District advanced its own slate of trustees. Steve Gorden and William Taylor were elected to fill two open seats, ensuring the district maintains its current level of water service oversight.

These local shifts occurred alongside a critical financial decision regarding education funding. Voters approved a $44.1 million school budget, representing a 4.41% increase from the prior fiscal year. The measure passed with a margin of 2,336 to 1,702, approving the district's plan to adapt to changing student populations while securing necessary resources for the coming academic year.
