WWE giant Omos talks AAA run, vows to hand out ‘a-- whooping’ to Rey Mysterio at Triplemania 34

Omos Eyes AAA Return After Two‑Year WWE Hiatus
Ballys, Nevada – The towering former WWE talent known as Omos is back in the spotlight, set to face a legendary luchador at Triple Mania 34 in Las Vegas. The matchup, which pits the giant’s raw power against the seasoned veteran Rey Mysterio, is the centerpiece of Night 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Friday.
Omos, who has not appeared in a WWE ring for roughly two years, has spent that time wrestling in promotions around the world. He began a brief stint in Japan with Pro Wrestling Noah, a tour that the 6‑foot‑7‑in‑tall wrestler credits with preparing him for the high‑octane style of AAA in Mexico. “No, not at all. I think, me coming to AAA, I had a chance to go to Japan last year for Pro Wrestling Noah and I think that prepared me for AAA,” Omos told OutKick Dropkick before his match. “Going out there, experiencing a new culture, speaking little‑to‑no Japanese but being able to immerse myself in that wrestling culture, which is all the same boat. It’s also very unique in its own ways. It was a phenomenal experience so I think that helped me.”
In 2023, the giant made his AAA debut at Triple Mania 33, where he captured the Bardahl Cup, cementing his status as a threat in Mexican wrestling circles. That success, however, has been shadowed by a recent feud with Rey Mysterio, who also serves as AAA’s general manager.
Earlier this month, Omos was suspended by AAA after a confrontation with Mysterio during a match. The feud escalated when Omos appeared in the audience as a paid spectator but subsequently interfered in the action, prompting the organization to take disciplinary action. The suspended wrestler remains determined to regain his spot on the roster.
“I am excited to hand out the greatest a— whooping of this lifetime to Rey Mysterio. I am thrilled,” Omos said in a post‑match interview. He followed that with a defiant stance: “No, I don’t give a damn. It doesn’t matter, no. Not even in the slightest.”
The storyline has drawn comparisons to a classic David and Goliath narrative. “Omos and Mysterio are writing a true David and Goliath story and it is sure to live up to the hype,” AAA commentator Corey Graves noted in a recent segment. Graves added that the high‑profile bout will test whether Omos can translate his overseas experience into a dominant AAA performance and secure his future within the promotion.
For fans, the Friday night clash offers a blend of cultural wrestling styles and a dramatic personal rivalry. With the MGM Grand Garden Arena full of anticipation, all eyes will be on whether Omos can reverse his suspension and cement a lasting legacy outside WWE.
