Woman visiting family in Maine dies after Westbrook crash
A woman visiting family in Maine died after a motor vehicle crash in Westbrook on Monday.
Westbrook police were dispatched to the scene of the collision between a trike motorcycle and commercial truck at Saco Street and Eisenhower Drive at about 12:40 p.m. Monday, the department said in a news release Wednesday.
The passenger of the trike motorcycle, identified by police as a 41-year-old woman from French Polynesia, was transported to the hospital but died of the injuries she sustained in the crash. Police said she was in Maine to visit family.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 59-year-old woman from Windham, was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The truck driver, a 37-year-old man from East Waterboro, was uninjured.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing, and the Westbrook Police Department said no further information would be released until its completion.
French Polynesia is about 2,500 miles south of Hawaii.
