Portland Sea Dogs to Induct Will Middlebrooks, Bill Burke and Sally McNamara into Hall of Fame

Portland, Maine – The Portland Sea Dogs announced that former Boston Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks, longtime club chairman Bill Burke, and former treasurer Sally McNamara will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame on September 10, ahead of the home opener at Delta Dental Park in Hadlock Field.

The ceremony will take place before the game on Saturday, September 10, as the Sea Dogs host their opponents in the park’s familiar setting. The event marks the first time the club has honored both a player and two executives in the same induction.

Middlebrooks, who played for the Sea Dogs in 2011, posted a .302 batting average with 18 home runs and 80 runs batted in over 92 games. He made his Major‑League debut with the Boston Red Sox in 2012, was named the club’s rookie of the year, and was part of the 2013 World Series‑winning roster. After six seasons in the majors, he has returned to the game as a radio and television broadcaster for the Red Sox.

Bill Burke, the son of the Sea Dogs’ founder Dan Burke, served as the club’s chairman from 2010 to 2023. Sally McNamara, Dan Burke’s daughter, was the team treasurer during the same period. Their combined leadership helped guide the club through a decade of growth and competitive play.

The Hall of Fame induction will recognize Middlebrooks’ contribution to the Sea Dogs’ history and his subsequent success at the highest level of baseball, as well as honor the Burke family’s stewardship of the franchise.
