What if Al Gore had been president? | Letter

I ask those who do not believe that elections have consequences to sit back and ponder this: What shape would this country, our environment and our economy be in if Al Gore had not ceded the election in 2000?
Would we have gone into Iraq or Afghanistan? Would we have shut out NATO and our European alliances? Would we have stayed with the Paris Agreement on climate change? Would we have ratified the Kyoto Protocol, addressing industrial agreements on greenhouse gases?
What if everyone — from schoolchildren to retirees — had watched the documentary: “An Inconvenient Truth?” Would we be facing the fires, floods and weather conditions that are destroying our once beautiful landscapes, state by state?
Something to think about while we watch our economy being flushed down the tubes. We must be careful who we vote for — across the board.
