Westbrook woman charged in connection with school bus crash

Westbrook SUV Driver Charged After Sunday School‑Bus Crash
Westbrook, N.H. – A 40‑year‑old resident of Westbrook was formally charged following a crash that involved a school bus carrying 19 children and five staff members. The incident occurred on Friday morning around 9:35 a.m. on County Road 93, according to a statement issued by the Westbrook Police Department.
The police report indicates that an SUV driven by Annemarie Napolitano crossed the center line and struck the front‑driver side corner of a Bonny Eagle school bus. The SUV then continued forward, hitting the side of the bus and narrowly missing another vehicle before coming to rest on the shoulder.
“The 19 children on the bus were between the ages of 4 and 12, and there were also five staff members aboard,” the department said. While several children reported pain, Westbrook Fire Department responders evaluated them on scene. None of the children or staff required hospital transport.
Napolitano faces three charges: operating under the influence, aggravated criminal mischief, and violation of conditions of release. The Westbrook Police Department announced the charges in a news release on Tuesday.
Police investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances that led to the SUV crossing the center line. The department is continuing its investigation into the collision.
