The town of Wells has announced that police Capt. Adam Shaw will become its next town manager early next year.
Shaw will succeed Michael Pardue upon his retirement on Jan. 18.
The Select Board unanimously voted last week to appoint Shaw. In a news release Wednesday, the town said Shaw’s public safety, leadership and community service experience demonstrated his commitment to the community.
“Knowing that the members of the Board, elected by the people of Wells, unanimously believe I am the right person to help guide the Town forward and build upon the strong foundation established by current Town Manager Michael Pardue is truly humbling,” Shaw said in a written statement.
“I also recognize that this appointment represents a significant level of trust, not only from the Board, but from the entire community,” Shaw added. “I have always believed that trust is something to be earned, and never taken for granted.”
Select Board Chair Timothy Roche said in the release that the board is confident that Shaw will serve the town “exceptionally well.”
The town said Shaw will work with Pardue and other town officials over the coming months to prepare for the transition.
