Maine Matters 2026

Read all of our coverage of Maine's 2026 election or stay up to date with the latest developments through the Maine Political Report in your inbox or text messages from politics editor Kirby Wilson.

Whether Mainers like Sen. Susan Collins or not, the fact remains that she is the chairs the Senate Appropriations Committee. If voters choose to elect a junior senator (like Troy Jackson), they can kiss hundreds of millions of dollars for Maine goodbye.

Are people really willing to lose this Maine funding, by voting for another candidate, just because they don’t like the president? As the Maine Senate president, Jackson voted for measures that made the cost of living higher in Maine. Why would anyone believe he will do anything differently if he is elected as a U.S. senator?

Let’s vote intentionally, so that we keep as much money coming to Maine as possible. Vote for Maine, not against a person who’s not even running for office.
