Saigon Pho Relocates to Portland, Reopens as Pho Viet

Lewiston, Maine – The long‑standing Vietnamese‑Thai‑Chinese fusion spot that had welcomed diners at 791 Lisbon Street since late spring 2022 has closed its doors in Lewiston, announcing a move to Portland under a new name.

A handwritten notice on the Lewiston storefront, posted over the weekend before Monday, read: “We are sad to say we have moved to 865 Forest Ave. in Portland.” The sign also clarified that the new location will operate as Pho Viet with the same management team and staff that has served Lewiston patrons for the past four years.

The move comes after the owners reported that business at the Portland site has been busier than the Lewiston location. “We tried to make it work here,” the owner told reporters, noting that the new address has been able to attract a larger customer base.

Pho Viet’s menu will carry forward the eclectic mix of dishes that made Saigon Pho popular, offering Vietnamese classics alongside Thai and Chinese favorites. The Lewiston restaurant still has its refrigerator stocked, menus neatly arranged, and office supplies in plain sight, giving the impression that it had simply closed for the day rather than shut down permanently.

Customers on social media confirmed that the notice appeared over the weekend, and at least one commenter had already visited the new Portland location. While the exact date the sign was posted isn’t documented, it’s clear the transition is now complete.

The new Portland restaurant will be located at 865 Forest Avenue, and it is expected to open its doors shortly. Loyal patrons of Saigon Pho in Lewiston may find a familiar atmosphere and menu under the Pho Viet banner, albeit in a different part of the city.
