Varsity Maine high school football honor roll for Week 8

Maine high school football regular season closes with statement performances
Friday night brought the regular season to a close across Maine, and high school football players from York County to the western mountains made sure their final games were memorable.
In one of the night’s most anticipated matchups, Thornton Academy held off Bonny Eagle 49-14 in a showdown between the top two teams in the Varsity Maine poll. The Golden Trojans’ Logan LeBlanc turned in a highlight-reel performance that included a leaping, one-handed grab that landed on ESPN’s Top 10. LeBlanc added a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and caught three scoring passes from Noah Fullerton, finishing with six receptions for 129 yards.
Yarmouth capped off an unbeaten regular season with a 68-0 rout of Gray-New Gloucester. Stephen Connolly led the way with 212 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries.
Elsewhere, Spruce Mountain rolled past Maranacook 60-6 behind senior Owen Kelvey, who did damage on both sides of the ball. Kelvey rushed for 225 yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries, while also recording two interceptions, two pass deflections and a fumble recovery.
Lawrence made an early statement against Messalonskee, building a lead that held for a 60-6 final score. Keegan Littlefield needed only one half to produce 150 rushing yards and a touchdown on seven carries, including 131 yards by the end of the first quarter.
In a rivalry game, Cony handled Gardiner 49-14. Landen Perry caught four passes for 131 yards and a touchdown for the Rams, while Gardiner’s Justin Doody rushed for 198 yards and a score on 25 carries and added a 52-yard touchdown pass.
Marshwood bounced back to defeat Kennebunk 32-16, with junior Jon Buttrick stepping into starting roles at fullback and linebacker while standout Greg Castoras sat out with an injury. Buttrick rushed for 59 yards and an 11-yard touchdown on 17 carries, added a two-point conversion run, and contributed a quarterback sack and a tackle for loss on defense.
Oxford Hills topped Noble 34-14 as Toby Oufiero threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. He connected with Mason Ridley on a 34-yard touchdown pass and threw completions of 33 and 30 yards to Carter Davis that set up two more scores.
Nokomis escaped with a 14-13 victory over Wells thanks in part to Stephone Ross, who rushed for 149 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries and made a team-high seven tackles on defense.
And in a low-scoring battle, Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale edged John Bapst 14-6. Tristyan Ortiz led the Ramblers with 139 yards on eight carries and one touchdown, while also recording 13 tackles and a tackle for loss on defense.
With the regular season complete, attention now turns to the postseason, where these performers will look to carry their momentum into playoff play.
