UMaine football can’t stop its losing streak

Campbell Crushes Maine, Extends Winning Streak to Five Games
Saturday afternoon at Orono’s Alfond Stadium, the University of Maine Black Bears were hammered 35‑6 by the Campbell Fighting Camels. The game marked Campbell’s fifth consecutive victory and Maine’s seventh straight loss after a surprising season‑opening win.
The Camels’ offense, led by senior quarterback Kamden Sixkiller, racked up 562 yards of total offense and 450 passing yards, throwing three touchdown passes. Sixkiller’s dominant performance set a school record for a single game and highlighted the team’s efficient passing attack.
Maine’s offense struggled to keep pace, managing 275 yards of offense and 8‑yard touchdown in the second quarter when Caden Drezek connected with Rashawn Marshall. The Black Bears’ attempt to narrow the margin was halted when kicker Sam Tremblay missed the extra point, leaving the score at 7‑0 in favor of Campbell.
Jon Gullette’s 53‑yard catch midway through the first quarter gave Campbell an early lead that never relinquished. The Camels maintained control for the entire contest, outgaining Maine by a wide margin and scoring 35 points while limiting the Black Bears to a single touchdown and two field goals.
With the win, Campbell improves to 7‑1 overall and 4‑0 in Coastal Athletic Association play, solidifying its position at the top of the conference standings. Maine drops to 1‑7 overall and 1‑4 in the CAA, extending a disappointing streak that began after the team’s initial victory over Western Connecticut.
The result underscores the disparity between the two programs this season, as Campbell’s balanced offense and stout defense continue to dominate while Maine struggles to find its footing in conference play.
