Trump Expands TrumpRx Program, Adding 160 New Discounted Drugs for Americans

Washington, D.C. – In a Friday post on the social‑media platform Truth Social, President Donald J. Trump announced that the TrumpRx.gov initiative has added 160 additional prescription medications, bringing the total number of discounted drugs available through the program to more than 800.

Trump said: “I am pleased to announce that TrumpRx.gov is adding another 160 Prescription Drugs, at highly discounted prices, for a new total of over 800 of the most commonly‑used Prescription Drugs.” The president also noted that the website “will now provide clear, transparent, and DISCOUNTED offerings for FOUR OUT OF FIVE of every prescription filled by Americans.”

TrumpRx was launched in February of this year after the administration finalized “most‑favored‑nation” pricing agreements with 16 major pharmaceutical companies. Under those arrangements, drugmakers received tariff‑related exemptions and agreed to lower prices for certain medications, extending discounted rates to eligible cash‑paying consumers. Companies such as Eli Lilly, Novo Nordisk, and others have already participated, cutting prices on popular GLP‑1 weight‑loss drugs and a range of inhalers, HIV treatments, diabetes medicines, and fertility drugs.

The website allows users to search for discounted medications, view estimated savings, and generate coupons for participating prescriptions. Administration officials have highlighted savings of over 400 million dollars for American patients since the program’s launch, a figure Trump referenced in his post: “These Most Favored Nations Deals have already, in fact, saved American Patients over 400 Million Dollars since the launch of TrumpRx.gov.”

Trump also emphasized the role of U.S. tariffs in securing the agreements. “Of course, Most Favored Nations would not be possible without my use of TARIFFS,” the president wrote. “We pay no more or, ideally, less than any other Country for the same exact Drug.” He added that the administration intends to “secure more Most Favored Nations Deals, more Partnerships, and Lower Prices for every American Patient.”

The expansion follows Trump’s earlier statements that the initiative was part of a broader effort begun in his first term to lower prescription drug prices. “I was proud to make History during my First Term when we lowered Drug Prices, even if by a tiny percentage, because this amounted to a HUGE change compared to other presidents only raising Drug Prices, endlessly and significantly, every year,” Trump wrote in a previous post. He went on to say: “Then, during my Second Term, I decided to go BIG with Most Favored Nations Pricing – That is to say, we pay no more or, ideally, less than any other Country for the same exact Drug.”

Critics of the program have raised concerns about the long‑term cost to taxpayers, the impact of tariff‑related subsidies on global trade, and whether the savings truly reach all consumers. Proponents argue that the program offers a tangible way for Americans to access high‑quality medications at lower prices, particularly for chronic conditions that require ongoing treatment.

As the TrumpRx platform continues to grow, the administration has pledged to negotiate additional deals with drug manufacturers and to expand the range of discounted products available to American patients. The program remains a key element of the administration’s broader health‑policy agenda, aiming to reduce drug costs and increase transparency for consumers nationwide.
