Maine Matters 2026

Read all of our coverage of Maine's 2026 election or stay up to date with the latest developments through the Maine Political Report in your inbox or text messages from politics editor Kirby Wilson.

Serving with Troy Jackson in the Maine Senate, I got to see firsthand his commitment and passion to work on behalf of all Mainers. I watched Troy push and advocate for important programs that would help so many: better healthcare insurance, universal free meals in public schools, paid family leave, affordable childcare and savings plans for those who didn’t have them at their job.

He worked with anyone who could support an effort and never stopped looking for allies. When there was resistance, he would make his case and try to persuade others to join him. He couldn’t convince everyone but he convinced enough to get key bills passed.

Troy started fighting for better deals for Mainers when he was 18 and didn’t go into public service to get rich. A governor or a new legislator, we knew where Troy stood on issues. I’ve already voted for Troy Jackson for U.S. Senate.

Hon. Ned Claxton, MD
