Tim McGraw Takes a Tumble Onstage in Cincinnati, Brushes It Off and Keeps Singing

CINCINNATI — Country music legend Tim McGraw took an unexpected spill during a concert at the Riverbend Music Center Thursday night, but the veteran performer wasn't about to let a fall interrupt his show.

McGraw was deep into his hit song "I Like It, I Love It" when he stumbled backward and hit the stage floor, his legs briefly splaying in the air. Video of the incident shows the 57-year-old star recovering quickly, sitting up with a grin before pulling himself to his feet and seamlessly rejoining the performance as if nothing had happened.

The crowd responded with cheers and laughter, relieved to see their idol unharmed. McGraw later showed he was in on the joke.

After the show, the "Blind Side" actor shared photos and video from the evening on Instagram, including a shot of his tumble. "Cincinnati, you started our weekend off on the right foot even if I couldn't stay on mine 😂 We appreciate you coming out and singing along! Detroit, you're up!" he wrote.

Fans flooded the comments with relief and humor. "Oh my God!!! Hope you didn't hurt yourself bad!!" one wrote. Another observed, "It was a great show! And we all got a good laugh since you were ok."

Several commenters expressed particular concern given McGraw's well-documented struggles with chronic back pain. The singer has undergone four back surgeries and double knee replacements in recent years. During an October concert in California, McGraw told fans that before his most recent surgery, the pain had become so severe he seriously considered walking away from music entirely.

"Things were getting really bad, so I was seriously contemplating and figuring out how to walk away," McGraw said at that show, according to previous reports. "I didn't want to, but I didn't think it was going to get better."

He recalled that during his darkest moments with the injury, he grew depressed over his inability to perform. The experience inspired him to write a song called "King Rodeo," which he performed that night. McGraw revealed his surgeon was actually in the audience for that California show, along with another surgeon who had operated on his wife, fellow country star Faith Hill.

Despite Thursday's comedic moment, McGraw appears to be in good spirits as he continues his tour, with Detroit on deck for the next stop.
