Thornton Academy and Saco have two more issues to work through to reach new contract

School Leaders Anticipate New Agreement Amid Ongoing Negotiations
In a recent discussion of the pending contract, school leaders confirmed that a new agreement is likely to be reached soon. However, they noted that two unresolved issues continue to stall the finalization of the contract, which has already passed through more than a dozen draft versions.
“School leaders said a new agreement is expected,” the officials added, underscoring that while progress has been made, the remaining matters must be settled before the contract can be signed.
The delay reflects the complexity of the negotiations, which have involved multiple revisions and a range of stakeholders. The contract, which covers key terms such as compensation, working conditions, and benefits, has been under scrutiny for more than a year. The two outstanding issues—whose specific nature was not disclosed—remain the only obstacles preventing a final agreement.
As negotiations continue, school leaders remain hopeful that a resolution will be achieved shortly. They emphasized the importance of a timely contract to ensure stability and continuity for students and staff alike.
