Maine high‑school softball teams rally as Miss Maine Softball finalists announced

Sixteen of Maine’s top high‑school softball players earned recognition this week, as the Miss Maine Softball organization released a list of 13 finalists. The announcement took place Saturday afternoon, with the award winner slated to be revealed on June 24 at the Maine Senior All‑Star Games held at Saint Joseph’s College.

The finalists represent a cross‑section of the state’s top conferences and include:

  • Kyeria Morse – pitcher, Oxford Hills (KVAC Class A)
  • Hailey Lamontagne – outfielder, Cheverus (KVAC B)
  • Addie Caiazzo – shortstop and pitcher, Windham (KVAC B)
  • Maddie Fitzgerald – first baseman, York (WMC)
  • Chloee Bennett – shortstop, Buckfield (KVAC A)
  • Payton Fazzina – shortstop/outfielder, Wells (KVAC B)
  • Ashley Shores – catcher, Lawrence (KVAC B)
  • Nikole Turnbull – shortstop, Dirigo (KVAC A)
  • Hannah Webber – pitcher, Old Orchard Beach (KVAC B)
  • Lauren Veino – pitcher, Penobscot Valley (KVAC A)
  • Natalie Stanwood – pitcher, Narraguagus (KVAC A)
  • Jillian Severance – pitcher, Orono (KVAC B)
  • Natalie Fournier – shortstop, Old Town (KVAC B)

Morse, Shores, and Fitzgerald had already earned conference Player of the Year honors last season—Morse with the KVAC Class A, Shores with the KVAC B, and Fitzgerald with the Western Maine Conference—adding further weight to their candidacies.

The Miss Maine Softball award, which recognizes the state’s most outstanding senior female softball player, culminates in a presentation at the Senior All‑Star Games, where the winner will receive a trophy and a scholarship award. The games also showcase the best of the state’s high‑school talent in a showcase that draws fans from across Maine.

Maine State Credit Union, which sponsors the award’s free coverage for fans, has emphasized its support for local high‑school athletics, noting that these moments matter for the communities that make the state strong.

High‑school softball officials, coaches, and fans across the state have already begun to buzz with excitement as the finalists await the final decision. The announcement of the winner on June 24 promises to cap an eventful season for Maine’s teenage athletes.
