PORTLAND, ME – A fresh spot has taken over the former space of The Bar and Bites on Exchange Street in the Old Port, opening its doors for the first time on Friday, March 4, 2026. The Teal Duck, a new cocktail bar, brings a compact yet inviting layout, a curated selection of drinks, and a flexible food program centered on charcuterie and cheese.
The new venue sits at 8 Exchange Street and features a 14‑seat bar area paired with 55 table seats, creating a comfortable setting for both quick drinks and extended dinners. According to owner Brandon Allegue, the bar’s menu showcases 11 signature house cocktails, two mocktails, a modest wine list, and a selection of bottled beers. The food lineup is built around an assortment of cured meats and cheeses, allowing patrons to assemble their own boards from a la carte choices. Food service ends at 10 p.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. on weekends, giving guests ample time to savor the pairings before closing.
Allegue, who has spent the bulk of his career opening and managing bars and restaurants across Florida, says The Teal Duck is his first venture into a cocktail‑focused establishment. “I’ve helped launch several bars in Florida, but this is the first place where we’re putting cocktails front and center,” he explained.
The bar’s operating hours are Monday through Saturday, 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., with Sunday closed. Patrons looking for a relaxed evening in the Old Port will find The Teal Duck a convenient and stylish option.
