Susan Collins’ response to foul attack ad is part of a pattern | Letter

Sen. Susan Collins is again trying to take credit for reducing harm she caused.
What Collins’ spokesperson left out in saying the disgusting attack ad against Troy Jackson should be pulled, was that Collins herself put the issue in the spotlight in early September. In an interview with Jonathan Martin of Politico, Collins presented details about Jackson’s family, while saying she wasn’t going to bring it up, to which Martin replied, “I think you just mentioned it.”
Sen. Collins is always having to have it both ways. She advanced the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, with its big healthcare cuts, before trying to take credit for a rural hospital fund that restores $1 for every $75 cut. Collins said she’d only back pro-choice justices, then voted for Brett Kavanaugh; she introduced a weak abortion bill that couldn’t pass and voted against a much stronger reproductive rights bill that had far more votes. Aren’t we sick of this?
