Maine Matters 2026

I had a hard time sleeping last night. I could not stop thinking about the 3-year-old girl in Biddeford who lost her father on July 13, shot right through the windshield of the car, with her in the backseat. It is an unspeakable horror and heartbreak. And it would never have happened without Sen. Susan Collins giving ICE billions of dollars with zero reforms.

The Maine Democratic race for U.S. Senate has made a lot of headlines this year. Meanwhile, our sitting senator has released a fascist army into our streets with a mandate to arrest thousands of “immigrants” per day.

Thanks to Sen. Collins, this army terrorizes communities across the country and makes indiscriminate kidnappings of brown people, including more than 500 infants and toddlers stolen from their homes and sent to warehouses thousands of miles away. Collins funded ICE without any guardrails — despite the outcry and vocal protests of her constituents. The senator has shown that she doesn’t care an iota about her constituents.

Collins operates with the same sense of impunity as these masked thugs, as if nothing she does could possibly catch up with her. It is time for us to prove her wrong. We see her, we reject the harm she is causing and we will vote her out. This is on her. What happens next is up to us. Collins must go.
