Stray bullet from nearby lounge fight kills Frito-Lay worker inside Sam's Club

Fatal Shooting at Sam’s Club Linked to Nearby Lounge Dispute
A 55‑year‑old employee of Frito‑Lay at a Sam’s Club in Nashville died after a bullet that pierced the store’s exterior wall struck him in the head. The shooting, which took place early Sunday morning, is believed to have stemmed from a heated argument that began inside a local lounge on Antioch Pike.
The Incident
At just after 4 a.m., Paris Carlock of Murfreesboro was counting products in the chip aisle of the Sam’s Club near the store’s center. While he worked, a single gunshot rang out, striking him in the head. The bullet had entered the shop by tearing through the metal wall that separates the interior from the street. Sam’s Club employees rushed Carlock to a nearby hospital, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said that the gunfire was linked to a dispute that started inside Lavo Lounge, located just down the street from the retail center. Security at the lounge removed the parties involved, but the confrontation reportedly spilled outside. As multiple vehicles departed the area, gunshots were heard. Police are still searching for the gunman and have not released any descriptions of the individuals or vehicles involved.
Reactions and Ongoing Investigation
Homicide Unit detectives are pursuing leads, but no arrests have been announced. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our colleagues,” a PepsiCo spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Our sincere condolences are with their family members and loved ones. We have been working closely with law enforcement and local officials regarding the matter.”
The department described Carlock as an “innocent” victim, underscoring that he was neither involved in the argument nor a suspect in any way.
Public Appeal
Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting or the vehicles seen leaving the scene to contact Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615‑742‑7463. The investigation remains active as detectives continue to sift through surveillance footage and witness statements in an effort to identify the suspect and bring those responsible to justice.
The tragedy highlights the reach of gun violence into everyday spaces and the importance of swift community cooperation in the pursuit of safety and accountability.
