South Portland man charged with sexual assault of a teen in Oxford County

An Oxford County sheriff’s deputy conducting a welfare check Tuesday in Buckfield discovered a South Portland man who was wanted for alleged sexual assault of a girl under age 15 and furnishing liquor to her and another teenager.
The deputy was checking on a report of a possible unresponsive man at the intersection of Darnit Road and Brock School Road, Maj. Dana Thompson wrote in a news release.
The deputy determined the man, Diego Ramirez, 29, had been indicted earlier this month by an Oxford County grand jury on 12 counts, including sexual assault, sexual abuse of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child, furnishing alcohol to a minor and allowing a minor to consume alcohol, Thompson said.
Ramirez was arrested and was being held on $25,000 cash bail with a number of conditions, including no contact with the victims, Thompson wrote.
A second man in the case, Nkialuzitu Mayingi, 31, of Gorham, was also indicted earlier this month and is being held at the Oxford County Jail in South Paris. He is charged with five counts of sexual assault, several counts of sexual abuse of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child and furnishing drugs and alcohol to minors, including another girl under age 15.
