Maine Matters 2026

Read all of our coverage of Maine's 2026 election or stay up to date with the latest developments through the Maine Political Report in your inbox or text messages from politics editor Kirby Wilson.

Sour grapes are not an option. Some of us will be disappointed that Maine’s replacement Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, to be nominated on July 25, is not our first choice. Some of us may have felt left out of our county’s delegate selection process this weekend, or may feel left out of the Maine Democrats’ upcoming convention.

But we need to stay focused on our goal of voting Susan Collins out of Washington, D.C., and stymieing Donald Trump’s agenda.

Maine Democrats can succeed in taking back Collins’ U.S. Senate seat in November if we stick together. So, let’s rally the factions, the unenrolled, the delegates and candidates not nominated, all their supporters and the social media armchair nay-sayers.

It is all hands on deck between now and November. Let’s go!
