Sheriff King deserves to be reelected in York County | Letter

Sheriff Bill King’s depth of experience in municipal, federal and county law enforcement are unparalleled in Maine. His expertise has been demonstrated by the many improvements at the sheriff’s office since his initial election in 2014.
The York County Sheriff’s Office was the first sheriff’s office in Maine to be accredited by the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program. In its most recent Maine Department of Corrections inspection, the York County Jail received a 100% compliance rating — a rare achievement.
Sheriff King provides inmates with opportunities for self-improvement, facilitating their productive reentry into the community. During his 12 years in office, he has updated all aspects of departmental operations to align with current best practices. The York County Jail’s body scanner intercepts contraband; cruisers have video systems; and deputies have body-worn cameras, all of which improve both citizen and officer safety.
Sheriff Bill King deserves our vote.
