Shark spotted near Reid State Park in Georgetown

Reid State Park in Georgetown was closed to swimming Friday afternoon due to a shark sighting.

The town said in a social media post around 4:30 p.m. that the park had advised that swimming would be temporarily halted due to the confirmed shark sighting off Mile Beach.

In an update around 5:15 p.m., the town said swimming would remain closed until Saturday due to the sighting and fog rolling in.
