Portland Sea Dogs’ Henry Godbout and Hayden Mullins Earn Eastern League Honors
The Eastern League crowned Portland Sea Dogs shortstop Henry Godbout and left‑handed pitcher Hayden Mullins as its player and pitcher of the week, respectively, on Monday. The awards reflect the pair’s strong recent performances and their continued impact on the club’s push toward the playoffs.
Godbout earned the player of the week title after an impressive five‑game stretch in which he batted .455. During that span he hit four home runs, drove in six runs and scored four times. In the final three games of Portland’s series against the Chesapeake Bayhawks he collected three hits, helping the Sea Dogs secure victories over the Bayhawks. Since his promotion to the Double‑A level on August 11, Godbout has compiled a .286 average with eight homers and 18 RBIs in 19 games, underscoring his steady production as he adjusts to higher‑level pitching.
Hayden Mullins was named the league’s pitcher of the week after delivering six scoreless innings in a 5‑4 loss to the Baysox last Wednesday. While the game ended in defeat, Mullins’ performance was highlighted by the lack of earned runs over his outing. His effort contributed to the Sea Dogs’ competitiveness in a tightly contested match and earned him recognition for his pitching work.
The Sea Dogs have been a key contender in the Eastern League’s South Division, and the accolades for Godbout and Mullins reinforce their status as core contributors. With Godbout’s offensive production and Mullins’ reliable arm, Portland remains poised to contend for the division title as the season moves toward its final stretch.
Eastern League officials noted that both players’ achievements represent significant contributions to their team’s success, and the league’s weekly awards serve to recognize standout performances across the circuit. As the season progresses, the Sea Dogs will look to sustain the momentum demonstrated by Godbout’s hitting prowess and Mullins’ pitching resilience.
