Sea Dogs scored twice in ninth to beat Somerset

Marvin Alcantara tied game with a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning, and Stanley Tucker drove in Ahbram Liendo with a two-out double as the Portland Sea Dogs rallied for a 7-6 win over the Somerset Patriots in an Eastern League game Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. The Sea Dogs overcame a 6-2 deficit with the help of a two-run homer from Boston Red Sox utilityman Romy Gonzalez, who is on a rehab assignment. His home run in the third inning cut Somerset’s lead to 6-4. Gonzalez started at second base and was replaced in the eighth inning by Tucker, who was promoted to Double-A last week. Tucker reached on an error in the bottom of the eight, then stole second and third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ronald Rosario. With one out in the ninth, Alcantara made it 6-6 with a home run over the left-field wall. Liendo kept the inning alive with a two-out double, and after Franklin Arias was walked intentionally, Tucker lofted a fly ball down the right-field line that fell safely for a walk-off double. Patrick Halligan (2-2) was credited with the win after pitching the final two innings. Caleb Bolden and Halligan combined to allow just two hits over 5 1/3 innings in relief of starting pitcher Blake Wehunt. Nate Baez homered in the first inning for the Sea Dogs. Copy the Story Link
