Sea Dogs prevail with late comeback

Portland Sea Dogs rally to edge Chesapeake Baysox 6‑4 in Bowie
The Portland Sea Dogs snapped a four‑run deficit and earned a 6‑4 victory over the Chesapeake Baysox in an Eastern League game on Saturday night at M&T Bank Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. The comeback hinged on a blistering eighth inning that featured a two‑run homer by Ronald Rosario and a pair of clutch singles from Tyler McDonough.
Portland began the game with a slow start, falling behind 4‑0 after the first two innings and managing just three hits through the seventh. The Baysox’s offense was largely contained, but the Sea Dogs found a way to turn the tide.
The turnaround started with a walk to Johanfran Garcia, setting the stage for Rosario’s 13th home run of the season. The two‑run blast tied the game 4‑4, igniting the ninth‑inning rally that would become the centerpiece of the contest.
Shortly after the home run, Will Turner singled, and a subsequent walk to Mason White loaded the bases. Nelly Taylor then delivered an RBI double that pushed the score to 5‑4 in favor of Portland. Tyler McDonough followed with a single that drove in the tying run, bringing the score level once again at 5‑5. A subsequent RBI single from Brooks Brannon gave the Sea Dogs a 6‑5 lead, which they maintained through the end of the game.
In relief, Steven Brooks earned his first Double‑A win, pitching 2 ⅓ hitless innings in place of Alex Bouchard. Brooks struck out four batters, walked one, and allowed no runs. Erik Rivera closed out the game by recording the final five outs, preventing a Baysox comeback and earning the save.
The Baysox were unable to recover from the early deficit, and the Sea Dogs’ late‑game surge secured the win. Portland now sits at 45‑38 in the Eastern League, while Chesapeake trails at 41‑43. The Sea Dogs’ ability to rally from behind and their bullpen’s resilience were key factors in the 6‑4 triumph.
