Sea Dogs power past Baysox

Portland Sea Dogs’ Power Surge Edges Chesapeake Baysox 9‑7 in Bowie
In a high‑scoring Eastern League showdown on Sunday afternoon, the Portland Sea Dogs out‑hit the Chesapeake Baysox, earning a 9‑7 victory in Bowie, Maryland. The game was defined by four Portland home runs, all of which helped the club overcome a brief two‑run deficit.
Henry Godbout opened the scoring for the Sea Dogs in the second inning, belting his eighth career Double‑A homer to put Portland up 1‑0. Chesapeake answered in the bottom half of the same inning when Anderson De Los Santos drove in two with a single, narrowing the margin to 1‑2. The Baysox then surged in the third inning, as Vance Honeycutt launched a solo shot that gave Chesapeake a 3‑1 lead.
The Sea Dogs returned to the fore with a three‑run blast by Tyler McDonough in the top of the fourth, followed by a two‑run homer from Will Turner in the fifth that pushed the score to 7‑3. Max Ferguson added a solo homer later in the frame, cementing Portland’s lead.
Chesapeake fought back in the sixth inning, scoring three runs—including a two‑run homer from Victor Figueroa—to cut the deficit to 7‑6. The Baysox also came within one in the eighth inning, but Portland’s pitching held firm and the offense kept up enough to preserve the win.
The Sea Dogs’ four‑home‑run performance marked a bright day for the team’s power hitters. While the Baysox managed a respectable effort, the combination of Portland’s timely hitting and the Baysox’s inability to keep pace ultimately decided the outcome.
The game added another notch to the Sea Dogs’ season record, showcasing their offensive depth and resilience in a tightly contested match at Bowie.
