Sea Dogs pitchers struggle in loss to Harrisburg

The Harrisburg Senators took advantage of the wildness of Portland Sea Dogs pitchers on the way to an 8-3 win Tuesday night in an Eastern League game at Hadlock Field.

Harrisburg scored four runs in the fourth inning without a hit, erasing a 2-1 deficit. The inning included four walks, a hit batter and two plays in which the Sea Dogs failed to record an out on a fielder’s choice grounder.

The Senators added three more runs in the sixth on a bases-clearing double by Ethan Petry after a triple by Sam Petersen and two walks loaded the bases.

Four Sea Dogs pitchers combined for 16 strikeouts, and Harrisburg finished with only five hits, but the Senators were aided by nine walks and two hit batters.

Tyler McDonough, sent back down to Portland on Tuesday despite a successful stint with Triple-A Worcester, was 2 for 3 with two RBI and two stolen bases for the Sea Dogs. Jack Winnay, Ronald Rosario and Nelly Taylor also had two hits each.

McDonough’s addition to the roster was just one of several Sea Dogs roster moves made Tuesday by the Boston Red Sox. Pitcher John Holobetz was promoted to Worcester, pitcher Joe Vogatsky was promoted to Portland from Class A Greenville, and catcher Raudelis Martinez was released.
