Riley Gaines, Kat Timpf push back after 'Call Her Daddy' host suggests wives can always find better partners

Riley Gaines and Kat Timpf pushed back against podcaster Alex Cooper's advice on leaving a marriage this week, responding to the "Call Her Daddy" host's assertion that women can always find better partners.
Speaking on Fox News' "The Girls" podcast, Gaines and Timpf argued that women should focus on investing in their marriages rather than assuming they can find better partners elsewhere.
"To kind of combat the narrative that's out there that we just heard from Alex Cooper, 'seek more, seek better, it's the patriarchy,' which is of course just intentionally using buzzwords," Gaines said.

"The grass is not always greener on the other side. I have found, at least in my marriage, it's greener where you water it. Pouring into your husband, allowing him to pour into you, that's where I've seen growth," she added.
The "Call Her Daddy" episode was released earlier this month and featured Cooper and actress Sophia Bush, whose 2023 divorce from entrepreneur Grant Hughes made headlines. The two discussed women who hesitate to leave a marriage out of fear that they cannot find a better partner, a concern both Cooper and Bush dismissed.

"That's such a beautiful message to leave women with because I do think we can get really, really in our heads about, 'Oh my God, I feel like I'm, maybe I shouldn't leave this marriage because can I even get better?'" Cooper said. "And the answer is always yes."
Bush agreed, saying, "And this idea that it's too late or you're too old or who are you to want more? That's patriarchy. That is crazy. We don't need it."

Timpf challenged Cooper's advice, pointing to her husband's support during some of the most difficult experiences of her life.
"I also couldn't disagree more with what she said because, first of all, she said you can always do better than your husband. That's not true," Timpf said.

"I know that I can't do better than my husband because I mean, he's hot and all that. But also just, I mean I can't do better than the guy that held my hand through cancer, through childbirth, then my father's funeral," she added.
Timpf said some people find it controversial when she says her marriage is the most important thing in her life.

"There's nothing more important in my life than my marriage," Timpf said. "And people say, 'But what about your kids?' It's like, 'Okay, but it's for my kids that I have that opinion.' Because if you do not make time as a couple and see each other as a couple and keep that going, then that's not good for the family either."
