Actor Alan Ritchson and Wife Catherine End 20‑Year Marriage, Aim to Stay Co‑Parents

Boston, MA – Actor Alan Ritchson and his wife, Catherine, announced their decision to divorce in a joint Instagram post on Saturday. The 43‑year‑old, best known for his roles in Smallville, Blue Mountain State, and the Amazon Prime series Reacher, said the couple will remain friends and co‑parents to their three sons.

“We grew up together. We built a life and a family together. And we are raising three incredible boys who will always be the center of our world,” the pair wrote. “Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us or the love and respect we will always share.” The couple added they will move forward “with friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co‑parents we can be,” and asked fans to give them privacy during the transition.

Ritchson’s divorce was first filed in December of last year, according to court documents, with a brief reconciliation in March. The couple announced their separation publicly in September. The couple met as teenagers in high school, broke up briefly, then reconnected while in college before tying the knot in May 2006.

The couple’s three sons—Calem, Edan, and Amory—are the focus of the announcement, with Ritchson noting that the boys will “always be the center of our world.” The actors emphasized that their relationship will continue to be guided by love and respect, even as they “allow one another the room to grow into the people we are becoming.”

Ritchson’s career has included notable television and film roles. After a prominent spot on Smallville he appeared on Blue Mountain State and in the 2013 film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. He later played a role on Titans before landing the title character in the 2022 Amazon Prime series Reacher.

The couple’s announcement was accompanied by a statement thanking fans for “supporting us as we continue to make the health and happiness of our family a priority.” No official spokesperson has yet responded to requests for comment.

The actors have not indicated any settlement terms, and no further details on the divorce proceedings have been released.
