CLEARWATER, Fla. — A 32-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with child neglect after police say she was breastfeeding her 2-month-old infant while visibly intoxicated at an Extended Stay America hotel in Clearwater.

According to an affidavit from the Largo Police Department, Tamisha Brodie was reported to authorities last week after a witness observed her falling while holding her baby and becoming unresponsive multiple times.

When officers arrived, they reported that Brodie showed clear signs of severe intoxication, including slurred speech, glossy eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol. Investigators also found empty alcohol containers in her hotel room.

Deputies say Brodie had a blood-alcohol content of .295 — more than three times the legal limit for driving in Florida.

The affidavit states that the infant had been breastfeeding at the time. The 2-month-old was taken to a children's hospital for evaluation. Authorities noted the children had full diapers but no formula was found in the room.

Brodie was transported to Largo Medical Center for evaluation. Her 2-year-old toddler was also taken into protective custody.

A judge set her bond at $15,000.
