Puka Nacua officially out for Monday Night Football as Rams suffer major offensive blow

Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua is officially listed as inactive for tonight’s Monday Night Football game against the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium, after developing hip and groin tightness during a late‑week practice. Head coach Sean McVay and the team’s medical staff opted to err on the side of caution.
The injury leaves quarterback Matthew Stafford without his primary target as the Rams seek to avoid an 0‑2 start to the season. Nacua was a key part of the Rams’ offense in Week 1, hauling in five catches for 74 yards in a 27‑7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. In that game, he accounted for nearly half of the team’s total receiving yards, making his absence a significant blow to the attack.
Compounding the Rams’ offensive woes, backup receiver Jordan Whittington is also dealing with a quad injury. With the two top weapons sidelined, the team will rely heavily on veteran wideout Davante Adams to take a larger share of the ball. Adams is expected to draw primary defensive coverage, allowing reserve receivers Tutu Atwell and Xavier Smith to step into expanded roles and keep the offense balanced.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams are boosted by the return of legendary tackle Aaron Donald from retirement. Donald will make his season debut tonight and is slated to play a managed rotational load of roughly 30 snaps as he works back into game shape. His presence is expected to help anchor the defensive line and provide a veteran presence for the younger players.
The Rams entered Monday Night Football with a 0‑1 record after their Week 1 loss and now face a must‑win game against the Giants to avoid a 0‑2 start. With key offensive players sidelined and a defensive stalwart returning, the game will test the depth and resilience of the Los Angeles squad.
