Portland Man Arraigned on Murder Charge in Tukey’s Bridge Stabbing

Portland, Maine—Glen Rodney, 58, was formally charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 21‑year‑old Julian “Juju” Nadeau on a walking path near Tukey’s Bridge in Portland. The arraignment took place on August 7 at the Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland, where Rodney entered a plea of not guilty.

Police say the incident occurred in early August when Nadeau and Rodney had a confrontation on the trail that runs alongside the bridge. Nadeau, who lived in Portland, was later found dead with multiple stab wounds. The police investigation, which included the temporary closure of a nearby ramp on I‑295 on August 6, has led authorities to arrest and charge Rodney in the homicide.

Rodney is currently being held without bail at the Cumberland County Jail. A bail hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, when a judge will consider whether to release him pending trial. If bail is denied, he will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

The victim, whose nickname was “Juju,” was remembered by friends and family as a vibrant, loving presence in the community. His death has left the city grappling with the loss of a young man who was active in local youth outreach programs and known for his friendly demeanor.

The case remains under active investigation. Police are continuing to gather evidence from the scene and are speaking with witnesses who may have seen the altercation. The Portland Police Department has stated that they are looking into whether any other individuals were involved and whether the suspect had any motive beyond a sudden confrontation.

The Cumberland County Superior Court will also review the evidence presented by the prosecution, which includes forensic reports, surveillance footage from nearby traffic cameras, and testimony from witnesses on the trail. The defense has not yet presented its case but has indicated that the arrest was made on probable‑cause grounds.

Maine lawmakers and local officials have called for a thorough judicial process, emphasizing the seriousness of a murder charge and the need for due process. The community has expressed its support for both the victim and the legal proceedings.

For now, the story is developing, with further updates expected as the legal process unfolds.
