Portland man arrested after standoff following Route 302 head-on crash in Naples

The sheriff’s office in the town of Millville confirmed that a local suspect, who had been involved in a standoff with law‑enforcement officials, surrendered peacefully after a tense negotiation. According to the report, the suspect was held at a residence in the early hours of Wednesday morning when deputies from the Millville Police Department and the surrounding county’s sheriff’s office converged on the scene.

The sheriff’s office added that the suspect agreed to exit the premises voluntarily without incident, following a series of calm, measured exchanges.
No injuries were reported, and the suspect was taken into custody without resistance. The sheriff’s office is still reviewing the incident, noting that the successful outcome was the result of careful negotiation and the presence of a dedicated crisis‑management team.
Officials have not released the suspect’s identity, citing ongoing investigations, but the community has expressed relief that the situation resolved without violence. The sheriff’s office has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety while also employing non‑violent tactics whenever possible.
