Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office Urges Public to Help Identify Suspects in Hermon Storage Burglary

Penobscot County authorities are asking residents of the Bangor and Hermon area to come forward with any information that could help locate the perpetrators of a burglary at the Bangor Hermon Railyard and Storage facility in Hermon, the sheriff’s office said on Tuesday.

The crime, which reportedly involved break‑in and theft of items from the storage units, was discovered early this week when employees noticed broken locks and missing belongings. No injuries were reported, and the property’s owners are still trying to assess the damage.

Sheriff’s Office officials have not yet made any arrests, but they are actively investigating the incident. “We are looking for any witnesses or surveillance footage that could shed light on who entered the facility and what was taken,” a spokesperson for the office said. “If you saw anything suspicious near the storage yard on the date of the burglary, we urge you to contact us immediately.”

The office is also encouraging people to check local video feeds, including security cameras from nearby businesses and residents, and to report any odd activity observed in the hours before or after the theft. Tips can be submitted anonymously by calling the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office hotline at 207‑XXX‑XXXX or by visiting the department’s website.

Police are currently working with the property management company at Bangor Hermon Railyard and Storage to identify the specific items that were removed, and they are reviewing evidence collected from the scene. The investigation remains open, and the sheriff’s office hopes community cooperation will lead to the swift apprehension of the suspects.

Residents with information are asked to contact the Penobscot County Sheriff's Office as soon as possible. The office thanks the community for its cooperation and assures that every tip will be considered in the ongoing investigation.
