Pawn Stars Boss Rick Harrison Undergoes Emergency Bypass Surgery After Planned Procedure Reveals Hidden Heart Condition

After a routine procedure at a local hospital, the 2020s reality‑TV star was rushed to the operating room for emergency coronary bypass surgery. The 62‑year‑old, known for his role on “Pawn Stars,” is currently resting in the hospital and expects a full recovery.

Rick Harrison, whose name is synonymous with the hit show “Pawn Stars,” was admitted for what doctors described as a “simpler” medical procedure. While undergoing the operation, surgeons discovered that Harrison had a severe blockage in a coronary artery that required immediate attention. The decision to perform an emergency bypass saved his life.

A spokesperson for Harrison said, “He went in for a simpler procedure, and they found he needed a bypass.” The spokesperson added that Harrison is “resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery.” “He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time,” the statement continued.

Harrison’s wife, Agripina “Angie” Polushkin, 42, has been a central figure in his personal life for the past few years. The couple tied the knot on January 3, 2024, at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, an event officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator. In interviews, Harrison has repeatedly expressed gratitude for Angie’s support during some of the darkest moments in his life.

“She was there for me,” Harrison told reporters after his surgery. “And that’s the important part. She was there for me.” He recalled their first conversation: “I just started talking to her, and you have a conversation with her. And she’s really, really smart. And, you know, I’m kind of an egghead myself.” Harrison, who enjoys reading books on physics, noted that he found comfort in Angie’s genuine nature.

The reality‑TV personality’s recent health scare follows a year of personal loss. His son, Adam Harrison, 39, died in January 2024 from an accidental fentanyl overdose, after years of battling addiction. In November 2025, Harrison’s mother, Joanne Harrison, 85, passed away.

Despite these hardships, Harrison has spoken publicly about finding joy in new love and the importance of staying optimistic. “It’s all about being happy,” he said. “It really is. Life is absolutely amazing if you want to make it amazing. It’s a wonderful, amazing world out there.”

Medical specialists have praised the swift response of the surgical team. “Early detection and rapid intervention are critical in cases like Mr. Harrison’s,” said Dr. Elena Martinez, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon at the hospital. “We are hopeful for a complete recovery.”

Harrison’s family has urged the public to support those struggling with addiction and mental health issues, citing his son’s tragedy as a sobering reminder. “We’re grateful for the medical team and our loved ones,” Harrison’s spokesperson reiterated. “We’re hopeful that sharing our story can help others in need.”

Rick Harrison’s case has drawn attention to the unpredictability of heart disease and the importance of regular medical check‑ups. As he continues to recuperate, his fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry have sent messages of support, wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.
