Op-ed on Collins missed some key points | Letter

In response to Cynthia Dill’s Aug. 2 op-ed (“Susan Collins is a feminist’s best investment”), I would like to underscore two things that she failed to focus on.
First is that Susan Collins is no moderate, level-headed representative of Maine. She has voted with President Trump 94.6% of the time since January 2025. Secondly, Susan Collins has accepted millions of dollars from almost 100 out-of-state billionaires since 2025. Elon Musk just identified her as one of the eight Republican senators he is supporting with $120 million in this election cycle. Why do all these uber-rich people want to keep Susan in place? Because she serves them so well!
Personally, I am supporting Troy Jackson for a number of reasons. One of them is that he actually listens to people, everyday Mainers, and is open to changing his mind. Don’t we want to elect people who will listen to constituents and recognized experts and be open to seeing sane gun laws and reproductive freedoms as good for the people of Maine? I certainly do and I suspect Cynthia Dill might think so too, as she used to stand ardently against Susan Collins.
