Obituary: Thomas Guy McDorr

Thomas Guy McDorr
WEST BATH – Thomas Guy McDorr, 91, of Brunswick, Maine, passed away peacefully, following a brief illness on Thursday Oct. 8, 2026, at home surrounded by his children. Born on Dec. 9, 1934 in Bath, he was the loving husband of Dorothy MacGillivary, formerly of Five Islands Maine, for 68 years.
He formed his life around duty and sacrifice, for his family and country. He left Morse High School at 17 to voluntarily enlist in the Army Airforce during the Korean War and again at 33 in 1967 during the Vietnam War. Following 20 years in the Airforce he worked at Naval Station Brunswick, as a federal contractor managing the maintenance shop for an additional 20 years. Outside of work, he was known for a quite unassuming nature, he found joy in being with and assisting his extended family, friends and community working as fire chief and as an EMT in the Georgetown Fire Department for many years. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered for his charm and kind nature. Although we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the love and benevolence that were the essence of Tom’s being.
He is survived by his five children, Guy McDorr and Gary McDorr of Bath, Karen McDorr of West Bath, Tom McDorr of Tiverton, R.I. and Shawn McDorr of Evans, Ga.; and a host of loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy by six years; his son, Terry McDorr by 46 years.
A private memorial service for family will be held later to honor Tom’s life and legacy.
