Susan (Douglass) Klimko

WELLS – Susan Douglass Klimko, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 2, 2026, at the Gosnell Hospice Center in Portland. She was 76 years old.

Born on May 18, 1950, in Portland, Susan lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Susan was the cherished daughter of Catherine (Dolley) Douglass and Donald Douglass, who predeceased her. She grew up in Portland and began her career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield, later known as Anthem. Over four decades of dedicated service, she rose to the position of analyst, exemplifying hard work and perseverance.

In middle school, Susan met the love of her life, Thomas J. Klimko Sr., a proud United States Marine Corps veteran. They were married on Jan. 11, 1969, shortly after Thomas returned from serving in Vietnam. Their 57-year marriage stood as a testament to enduring love and true partnership.

Susan’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband Thomas; her son, Thomas J. Klimko Jr. and his wife Jen of Windham, their children Derek and Ella Klimko; her daughter, Ericka Murray and husband Thomas Murray of Milford, Mass., and their children Shea Arris, Anna Belle Murray, Sean Murray, and Dominic Schofield. Her legacy continues with the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Cooper Francis Arris, born just after midnight on June 3, a moment that brought comfort to all who felt Susan’s presence that day.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life. From summer deer hunts and ice cream runs on Long Island to beach outings with the convertible top down and movie dates, Susan created countless cherished memories filled with warmth and love.

Known for her quick wit and humor, Susan brought joy to everyone around her. She loved trips to the casino with friends and nieces as well as playing bingo. Her selflessness and angelic patience left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

A private family service will be held to honor Susan’s life.

May Susan Douglass Klimko’s memory bring comfort to all who loved her as they carry forward the lessons of love and joy she so generously shared during her lifetime.
